We have already recommended this villa to multiple family and friends, who plan on booking it in the future. Hopefully that will give us a discount for our next day! We will be back. Morano the caretaker was simply wonderful. He brought us gifts and shared everything. He knew about the history of the villa. Thank you so much for everything. It was just magical. |

Our group of five was very comfortable but it could have accommodated many more people as well. It may be hundreds of years old but has all of the modern comforts (including excellent A/C and fully outfitted kitchen). There wasn’t a single detail that hadn’t been thought of, and it’s only 20 minutes from the Lucca town center.

We had a lovely week at Villa il Castello. There were 9 of us in total and there was plenty of space for us all. The villa was stunning, clean and well maintained. Facilities were great and had everything we would need. The 360 views around the villa are breathtaking, we ended up spending so much time outside in the gardens. We also held a small wedding ceremony on one day we were there which the villa team ensured would go smoothly through communication with ourselves and our wedding planner. We absolutely loved our stay and would recommend it to anyone.

We booked this place for our parents’ 50th year wedding anniversary and we are so happy we did. The scenery was beautiful, the landscaping was amazing, and the view was unmatched. The property was even more beautiful than the pictures. Our granddaughvis di più
We booked this place for our parents’ 50th year wedding anniversary and we are so happy we did. The scenery was beautiful, the landscaping was amazing, and the view was unmatched. The property was even more beautiful than the pictures. Our granddaughter loved running through the yard and seeing all the flowers and citrus plants. We enjoyed the jacuzzi almost every evening. Sitting at the bistro overlooking the city was our favorite place for coffee. The beds were amazing and we all the best sleep. It was a short drive into Lucca, which is an amazing city to explore, shop, and eat in. We had a large van and driving up and down the mountain was no problem. The whole family was sad to leave and are already talking about when we can return.

Although the house was a little difficult to find initially, Erica was wonderful at meeting up with us and giving us directions. She was extremely responsive with each and every requestquestion This house is in a great location with a 10 minute drive into town. It was easy to find parking and explore all the wonderful restaurants and stores and historic buildings. It was also a fun place to rent bikes and explore the beautiful area. We also ventured off each day to a new location. The house is very centralized in Tuscany area and therefore it was easy to arrange excursions within 1-2 hours of the Villa. We would certainly stay again at this beautiful property |

The house was clean, homey, and comfortable especially for our large group of 9. Perfect location for privacy while still being approximately 15 minutes from Lucca, Montecarlo, and other surrounding villages.

This place is stunning. Amazing views, wonderful grounds, super comfortable. Much better than the pictures. It is a little hard to find and the road up is a bit harrowing if you’re in a large vehicle, but this place is unique and wonderful.

Our family of 8 had the most fabulous stay at Villa Il Castello set in the countryside near Lucca. The beautiful villa was warm, inviting and extremely comfortable. The rooms were charming, well appointed and clean. The kitchen was super well stocked with all the amenities we required. Along with a large dining room, the villa also had two lovely outdoor eating spaces. The views from the garden just outside the vila overlook the large pool and vistas of Lucca city. The Jacuzzi was perfect to come home to at the end of each day
We spent a blissful 5 days at the villa and would highly recommend it to anyone that is interested. The Lucca Apartments and Villa's team coordinated our stay seamlessly over email and once we were at the villa Manuela, our concierge, took great care of us! Special shout out to the amazing Alice who cooked us two delicious dinners in the villa. Thank you for a wonderful stay and we hope to be back again soon! |

Really really lovely place. Very secluded and away from it all, set high in the hills so that you can see wonderful views of Tuscan valleys and still feel like you're in your own little world. The property has 5 bedrooms, we were 2 families (2 adults with 2 kids each) so this suited us perfectly. Rooms are charming and well maintained, the kitchens have a full equipment and the bathrooms are well appointed and all expectations were more than met. We had 4 kids with us (age range 4-9) and they absolutely loved it. The property allows for kids exploration in the surrounding environment and we felt secure in the knowledge that, with a few ground-rules established early, it was all safe for them to have their own space in. The weather in early/mid September was superb (30 degrees each day), so we spent much of our time in the wonderful outdoor spaces - barbecuing, eating outside at the 10 seater table, pool time, playground activities for kids, general chilling, etc, etc. Overall, a really lovely re-treat in Tuscany that provides a great base to, (a) enjoy time in the property's grounds / pool etc revelling in the outdoor life, and, (b) explore the nearby area - we achieved Pisa, Lucca and Florence... all of which were truly wonderful (Lucca being a very pleasant surprise, lovely walled city that seems to have retained its original character). Truly lovely... Thanks Christina and Mrs Sonia, from all of us.

We spent a beautiful week in Lucca celebrating a milestone birthday. Villa Castello is a truly impressive property, with beautiful grounds, an amazing swimming pool and very comfort-able beds. The villa is very spacious and our group of 10 adults found it very comfortable. The kitchen has all the necessary. One of the highlights of the week was meeting our hostess Cristina. Prior to our arrival she asked if we would be interested in some music at the villa and as we were there to celebrate a birthday I quickly took her up on her suggestion. It turned out to be the best night we had at the villa! Cristina and her husband were fantastic, they set up prior to dinner so we had dinner music and then they sang and entertained us the rest of the evening. Cristina is a great singer and her husband is a skilled musician, play-ing several instruments. We danced and laughed the night away! I would highly recommend booking Cristina for your special evening at the villa, it will make your stay that much more memorable. Looking forward to returning to Lucca.

The Jacuzzi was a huge hit. One evening we had a delicious dinner prepared by a local chef. My best memory is drinking wine on the veranda while listening to the music from the village festival. Simona was the most attentive agent I have ever dealt with. We had Fantastic feelings - highly recommend!

The pool was such a treat at the end of a day of sightseeing, and the cooking class was a blast Christina. We loved exploring the grounds, the communal meals in the huge dining roomoutside under the trees. A fabulous property-thank you Sonia and Christina for a memorable week.

This villa exceeded all of our group's expectations (and that is saying quite a bit as our group of 7 ladies were away from our families for 7 days and wanted a top notch vacation!) The host, Sonia, met us upon our arrival with fresh pastries, a history of the villa and maps with key points of interest. She coordinated our first night's meal by a local woman, gave us in-formation to local favorite restaurants and sites, took us to several behind-the-scenes desti-nations such as the local smithy, olive press and family-owned vineyard as well as massages at the villa. The villa was very comfortable, neat and had many special touches like a wel-come basket filled with local delights. It was ample for a party our size with room to spare. I can not say enough about how truly wonderful our visit was and only wish we were going again this year. Here's to returing for our 50thsooner if we can sneak away from our husbands and children! We stayed at the property in late March 2019. Our stay was absolutely wonderful. The Vil-la was beautifully done. Bedrooms were comfortable, the kitchen large, the living spaces spacious and more than enough for everyone. The house was immaculate. The grounds were beautiful, the garden was romantic and elegant with many lemon trees and the ga-zebo on the top of the fortress surrounding the property with a breathtaking view. The Jacuzzi pool was a welcome relief in the afternoon and well used by our children. We were also blessed with a lovely owner available for our request and always met with a big smile.
The Lucca Apartments and Villas Team, the host, was outstanding. They were like a personal concierge. They helped arran-ge anything we needed during our excursions thru Tuscany. Advice on best places to see, best spots to park, best restaurants to visit. This is my 8th visit to Italy, but I saw it through new eyes. This note is just to say how much we loved our stay in Villa Il Castello. This Villa was the PERFECT way to appreciate Tuscany: it's location, the views, and especially the hospitality, It is a magical place! We loved every moment. A million thanks. |
